The Galaxy A17 5G, the Galaxy F17 5G and the Galaxy M17 5G all measure 164.4 × 77.9 × 7.5 mm, weigh 192 g, run the Exynos 1330 and carry the same 50 MP triple camera. What changes is the price and the shop: you pay ₹18,999 for the A17, ₹14,499 for the F17 and ₹12,499 for the M17 (launch prices). The F17 and M17 are sold mainly online.
That matters when you buy a cover. If the body is the same, a Samsung F17 cover or a Samsung M17 cover is an A17 cover with a different label. The specs below show the one place the A17 family is not identical, and a 20-second check tells you which phone is in your hand.
Samsung A17 vs F17 vs M17: three names, one body
SamMobile describes the F17 as a rebranded A17, and the spec sheets back that up line by line. The ₹6,500 gap between the cheapest M17 and the A17 buys you more RAM and a phone you can pick up in a Samsung shop. It does not buy a different shape.

Samsung F17 cover, Samsung M17 cover: does an A17 cover fit?
On paper, yes. All three share the same outline, thickness and camera layout, and the big case brands treat them as one phone. PanzerGlass, for example, sells a single case labelled for both the Galaxy M17 and the A17 5G.

The first line, Model name, says Galaxy A17 5G, Galaxy F17 5G or Galaxy M17 5G. The box and the bill say the same thing.

Why bother if the body is the same? Because the same check catches an A16 bought by mistake, and those don't share a cover.
Is the Samsung A17 waterproof?
No. The A17 5G, F17 and M17 are rated IP54: dust-protected and safe from splashes. Samsung's own F17 listing says the test was water sprayed at 10 litres a minute for 5 minutes, and that the phone is not meant for the beach or the pool.
A flip cover doesn't make a phone waterproof either. What it does is keep the screen face-down on a closed flap instead of on glass, which is the drop most budget phones die from.

Is the Samsung A17 5G waterproof?
